Mangroves?

How many grow mangroves in their sumps and do they do anything noticeable towards removing phosphates and nitrates. I have cheato and red dragon in the sump now ,just curious on other options

I have 4 in my sump with chaeto and dragon as well. They grow slow so I can't comment on how effective they are. Actually the dragon grows the fastest out of all of it. My chaeto has coralline growing on a lot of it.

You have to think they are taking organics and Phos out in some quantity.

Was hoping a lot more utilized this technic but I guess not. Wanted to give mangroves a try so I can cut back on the gfo reactor

I've got about 6 in my refuge. They grow right up to the light about 18" above the water. Like said they're a slower grower and not sure how much they export. I got mine from reefcleaners years ago and I do nothing but trim them from time to time. I have a separate light over them hung higher. They cheato and such needed the light closer to the water. Chaeto on one side and mangroves on the other side.
