So, not going to go into detail regarding the complexity of the construction, nor give a listing of the vast amount of supplies required to create such a trap.
I will, however post the results as a teaser for future sales.

In an attempt to catch 2 shrimp, with a small slice of fish placed inside the trap, 2 shrimp captured in 4 hours.

This is the only type of trap I've been successful with in the past!

A nice macgyver creative invention. Can I ask why you needed to catch the shrimps? I never had one so I don't know if they cause problems

How would you go about catching a 5-6 inch fish?

Personally for me I had to move and/or remove rocks. Not fun, stirred up sand and caused some algae issues.
Mow I just leave them be to figure out how to get along.

I asked my brother has a fish that's getting too big and he wants to remove him but we don't want to remove all the rocks.

If there is room try making the trap with bigger bottles such 2 liter, 1/2g or 1g jugs. Not sure how big the tank is.
I left the trap in for a few days and only put food in the trap. SOme food floated out and enticed them to go in.

I also used egg crate to catch a 3inch fish. Made a maze with food at top in back. Fish had to swim in, up, down, and up to get food.
Just when pulling trap out fish will be on crate with no water. It was hard to transition to a container with him in trap.

Good luck.
