I used Oolite for mine for what it is worth. Was a mess early but once you get the bacteria growing I don't get any more clouds than the next person.

Fiji pink for me

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk. If you go with the dry sand it needs a realllllllly god rinse

I'm sealing inside my stand and was wondering, if its necessary to top coat Kilz complete? I noticed that even tough it was dry it seemed tacky and picks up finger prints etc. This was between 1st and second coat.

i sealed with this black rubber sealant. it's in my 80g build thread. it worked great.

I'm already committed to the Kilz with 2 coats. Just not sure it will give me a hard finish. Will wait a couple days to let it dry really good. At worse just will need a coat of regular paint.

I don't understand that. The last gallon of Kilz Complete I purchase dried very fast. Whatever organic solvent they used was very smelly (actually noxious), and dried to the touch within maybe 15 minutes. I can only guess they changed this organic solvent.

This was Kilz Complete...even when completely dry, it shows finger prints. I did a third coat today, and will finish it tomorrow with another paint.

I think they did change it. I used it as a primer for the inside of my stand and canopy. It started to crack and peel when I brought it In from the garage. I ended up using glidden exterior satin and no issues so far. Why glidden? Cause it's what I used on my house and I had left over.

I'm looking at my plumbing on my 180g and I might have a problem. The center overflow was pre drilled. It has 4 holes 2 allow one inch drains and 2 allow half inch returns. Since I plan on using the Herbie method. One drain is full siphon (750g) and the other will be a dry emergecncy.

Does this sound doable and good enough. I plan on two MP40s for additional flow. And my 3200g rated pump might be too much.

Any ideas...really dont want to try redrill the tank.

I might get more flow than I thought, here is flow chart, my drop is about 7 ft but its not totally vertical.
