Wish I had that problem. Have a huge rock with the electric green gap, and some clove polyps on another. Both of which my wife loved and brought home as a gift, when she stopped at acc to buy fish food. the young dude at acc who knew me told her dont do it, hes not gonna like it hah. But she thought he was joking. And well I still have it and the 2 of them laugh about it every time where there. They're like the plague, the gift that keeps on giving in my tank lol. I keep cutting them, smushing them and they just keep on going like the Energizer bunny lol.

I like cloves but another that I cannot keep alive. New tank will probably go softies and try some LPS and bunch of fish and I am done.

Actually, no matter how hard I try they just don't survive for me in my 20 years of reefing.
They look great in large colonies but not small frags to me. The frag would live for a year and never fully extend, well maybe sometimes, and then just die.
I have been on this forum and others to figure it our and nothing so I officially gave up on them longtime back.

check your iodine levels. I dose iodide daily now for this reason. Seachem iodide in particular. Nothing else seems to care one way or the other.

Will look into that. How often do you dose it?
Daily with an apex dos. Iodine breaks down fast in a reef and is taken up by skimming, activated carbon, algae, inverts, etc. it’s also coverted to iodide and iodate in the reef. Here’s an older r2r post with some good info. Like everything else in this hobby, ymmv. Good luck!

I maintain my iodine and .06, if i dont dose it every other day it goes down to near zero in about a week.

I actually use the red sea coral color 4 pack, its iodine, iron, potassium (another element that depletes fast) and a macro elements. I have them on a jaebo wifi doser to dose 1ml every second day. They last me about 200 days

Yea I agree. To be honest. I haven’t seen quite that color combo yet elsewhere. Of course there are probably 10,000 of them. But I haven’t come across any so far.

Mark. Before you give up. Here is a recent pic of a frag you gave me a few months ago. It has colored up wonderfully has a few added heads since then and is a fat happy camper. So you are definitely doing something right.
OOOH! Thats Nice! Can I have it!?
:)

Seriously, I've always been a softie/zoa guy. Mainly because I'm a lazy chilled out reefer.
I follow a pattern that many here who know me know, where I go from multiple nanos, very successful with zoas and shrooms to a larger tank or two where I expand out to harder corals.
I then do very well with sps, lps, gonis, and anems in the larger tanks, because I get clinical about the dosing and care.
I move away from chilled out reefer to obsessed aquarium guy.
Then I get pissed about becoming obsessed, hate that I'm devoting so much time to it and usually within a year or two the larger tanks they're broken down and I'm back to multiple nanos.
Could I go Apex instead of manual?
Sure, but I never have because, to be honest, I much prefer zoas and palys over sps, and I cant see investing in a full automated system to support corals I'm in the 'meh' camp on.

My 7g zoa tank is going well (2 spot blennie, Tanaka pygmy wrasse, 3 sexy shrimp, emerald crab, 2 bumblebee crabs, small cleaner shrimp, 4 nassars, 8 small ceriths, and some zoas (Cpt Jerks, Electric something, Capt Americas, Yellow Nukes, Pink Zips, and an unknown or two)).

I'm much more excited about growth possibilities with this tank and the 120 has fallen into the 'I need to downgrade, again' camp.

If I can find one of those Deep Blue 60g fraggers I'm on it, if anyone has one, let me know. If not, what are the lowboys folks (@ you Dave) using?
If I'm going to do a dream build and keep it nano I'll probably go Apex/Radion setup with a sell off of current equipment, and, unfortunately sell off/adoption of some beloved livestock...

And, no, before I get mails, the insanely healthy 'eats like a pig' gem tang is NOT on the adoption list

So, seriously considering settling in my nich, do the investments, and set up a couple of Apex controlled zoa gardens.
Planning to brood on this a bit, barring any further surreal interventions (which have not happened again, tank is running smoothly since. Ooooohhhh, spooooky).

So since this guy on here came up with this meet and greet, fundraiser, you should use this opportunity to donate some of your sps, half to me half to the club hahahaha ok you can donate all to the club I'll just need extra tickets so I get them hah

Let me put it this way. Had a huge rock covered in GSP cause my wife loved it.
Most of the polyps are gone now. Go figure.

I have had similar issues. GSP, zoas, cloves, xenia... Everyone tells me they'll take over my tank, but they only ever shrink.
