Middletown Fencing Referrals?

We need to get some quotes on having a fence put up, anyone have a company near Middletown that they enjoyed working with?

If you are physically able to to do it... There really is nothing to building a fence. You can save yourself a bunch of money and invest it in livestock lol. The DIY network show on tv has a website that has several different styles and helpful tips and descriptions to show you how to do it.

I sencond that. I did that with my house in FL. The only thing I recomend it to rent a post hole digger and that will make life VERY easy.

Yeah I'd love to DIY however I'm not physically able to do it myself and w/o "bashing" anyone ;) let's just say I'm the only one in the house who thinks we should build our own. My Dad actually helped me put up a small picket dog run in our last house on a visit but since he's in CA and we're here that doesn't do me much good so I'm left trying to find someone realiable who will do it for as close as possible to DIY prices per direction ::)

I do tackle all the DIY type projects I can do, painted the entire inside of the house... going to be working on the shutters/garage door soon, putting in some flower gardens etc... guess it wouldn't be to bad to finally get to hire someone to help do something :D

The best thing you can do in terms of getting it done close to DIY rates is to hire some day labor from one of the area day labor sites. I know there's a place in freehold you can get day laborers from (they're usually all hanging around in one spot), there might be one closer to where you are as well. Then you can pay them the $$ per day you agree on. You buy the materials and they build your fence.

Candi,

Hint:
you probably could save the $$$ and buy air plane ticket for your dad to flight to NJ...
;D

LOL believe me I've thought of it, I don't think he'll go for it though... he's already starting to dread his short visits because I always have projects for him to do... at our last house I had him tile a room, put up paneling in the basement, build that dog run etc not much of a vacation for him ;)

If I had the time, I would do it for you. Don't hire the day loabor's. Their not what they used to be. If you can do the job with just a helper, I can send you a Helper.

Thanks guys I'll keep the offers in mind and see what my better half has to say about it... my helpfulness is hindered by my 3yr old daughter who is basically glued to me at all times LOL so it might just end up being easier to hire out for the whole job... maybe going with something like Home Depot would at least get us someone trustworthy?

It depends. Each store will use its own contractors. Some are more selective than others but at least Home Depot has a guarantee if you don't like it.

It's cheaper to hire local fence people. I used to do some contracting for HD untill I found out the price they were charging for their contractors.

I'm sure you can find a local handyman in the Business Services section of the paper. Just remember, you get what you pay for. If you go the cheapest route you may not be happy with the outcome.

Installing fences in our area is REALLY easy. The ground is all sand and easy to dig. I put in more fence posts and footers than I care to think about in a wooded mountain surrounding Lake George. That was no fun thanks to all of the roots and boulders. Down here it's a breeze. Rent an auger (post hole digger) from HD and go for it. I'm sure the two of you can handle it.

If you really want someone else to do it, we've used Carl's Fence. They're pretty good. A bit pricey but very good quality work.

Ready for this? When I asked him about a fence again Craig (hubby) just informed me that he is considering & being considered for a new job... IN CALIFORNIA!!! Oh... did I mention we just bought a house and moved here from MI in December? I'm going to go drink a glass (bottle?) of wine and try not to think of the fact that I've already gone through 7 gallons of paint and have 3 more waiting for me since I've been redoing this house. I don't even have all the mulch down in the new garden I dug in the front... and he's talking about moving again... deep breathes... guess I don't need to finish unpacking the boxes still waiting in the basement? UGH.

If we end up staying maybe I could hire someone to just dig the holes/set the posts and nail/screw up the panels myself. I put lattice up on a cinder block wall at our last house by myself with a hammer drill and it wasn't to bad even with Aliya's help LOL

He's in advertising, focused on new media/mobile/interactive. Truth be told since I've known him he hasn't stayed at a job more then about a year, even his own company... I was just hopeful that after moving us all the way here and leaving everyone and our last house we'd be here awhile. Well... good news is my dad lives in CA right, my own free handyman LOL

Hopefully we'll stay put, I don't even want to think about moving my tanks across country, the 12 hour drive from MI was hard enough. (mind racing with ideas of shipping fish/rock/corals, temp tanks, biospira, LOL)

Hey - Sam:
don't even think about trying... you can not switch job! you can not moved! we need you here! PERIOD.

Candi,
regarding of the moving again:
you already is an expert mover... this time would be easier... except you have to drive maybe 48 hours from NJ to CA. (at least - easily)

regarding of the "good" thing to move to CA:
you either no need to paint the rest of the house...
or
you are moving to California with a house WITH Fencing already installed!!!

we love you here... and good luck if you really need to go...
just make sure you sell your stuff back to the NJRC member CHEAP!!
;D

just make sure, you don't let your dad move to NJ after he knows that you are moving to CA (next to him)!
;)
