Milwakee PH monitor Problems

The power supply for my milwakee ph monitor died today. (used for my calcuim reactor)
The power supply is 12VDC 500ma I have another power supply of the same voltage but it is 12VDC 1.5A.

Would it be safe to use it or should I Order a new one?

I tried it already for a few seconds and the monitor actually turns on

in short:
- input 1.5A ===> 1500mA is more than 500mA
- in your case it is fine - Temporary (reasoning being about high-loss/heat...etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_to_DC_converter)

you should get a proper one, or disconnect it for now, you not really need to constantly monitoring it...
cause pH will not change a lots in short period of time - only IF having any dramatic changes of tank's parameters (ie. dosing "anything" too much...etc)
