Mindless animal

I turned the power head off. Don't know what else to do other than wait. Any ideas?

Just wait. Pulling will do more damage, let it figure out what parts are to live and leave the it's dead tissue behind.

That was my thought also. I am sick over this. I love the damn thing and so does my clownfish. I'd ask what it was thinking but then I know it wasn't.

Carbon and water change will help as well. Let him get out. They sell foam covers for pumps that you can put on there so they don't get sucked in. I would recommend getting one to make sure it does not happen in the future.

I am surprised he was able to get sucked in with all the guards on the pump a nd I certainly don't know what he was doing up there.

I am not sure how he got tangled in the cover so badly. He left a piece of himself attached to the pump. I hope he makes it.

Unless he got all chopped up it should be fine. Mine met the power head once apon a time and was fine. Just shrunk up for a day or two. Then went to a lower flow area of the tank.

Sorry to hear about this Doug. It doesn't look like he got too far into it though, so he should recover.

+1 to the carbon and WC. Good suggestions Mike.

He removed himself from the power head. Doesn't look like he left that much on. I think he will be fine. I am not sure why he is hanging up there. He has been moving around a lot. He comes out when the lights come on and a couple of hours before the lights go out he goes for the shady side of the rocks. Last night he left the power head but today he is back up there. Trying to figure out what he likes about the power heads.

They like some flow, one reason is they rely on it for food. Usually they will wedge themselves in a rock crevice where they can expand during the day.

I have 2 koralia 1050 power heads and an ehiem 1062 return pump in my 58g!!! It is almost a hurricane in my tank:). Seriously he has been over every inch of this tank and then picks the most dangerous spot he could find to set up shop. Hence the title 'Mindless Animal'
