Monti issue

Ok, I'm having an issue with a couple of monti's in my nano. A rainbow and sunset.

As you can see they are not doing to well. The rainbow is 13" below the lights and the sunset is 11". The lights are 4x24" T5. The sunset looked good for the first couple of weeks or so. Encrusted nicely then started to go downhill. The rainbow never looked good from the get-go. After a week or so I split the piece and placed one in the other tank and it took off(pic) below.
My param's
PH- 8
KH-8
Phosphate-.04 (hanna)(no nusiance algae)
Mag-1440
Calcium-440
Ammonia-0
N02-0
NO3-0

Here's the same corals in my other tank 7" under T5's

The rainbow is actually a frag split from the one in the nano. The sunset is from a different reefer.

All SPS looks better in my 44g vs the nano. The nano is the "cleaner" tank. Is it possible that it is too clean. I'm kind of at a loss here. I solve one problem and another creeps up in the nano. This tank is far and away more disappointing then the 44 which I literally just threw together. I really can't wait to get rid of it, and get the 90 in place. Anyway if anyone has suggestion let me know. Thanks in advance for the help.

how old are the lights in the nano vs the 44? are they the same mixture of ATI or whatever brand bulb mix?

Same mix. The lights in the nano are 6 months in the other tank they are about 8 months.
And my param's in the 44 are very similar to that of the nano. Except that phos are .06 and nitrates are about 10-20 depending how you read the color.

I would assume it's a lighting depth issue. I've had the best luck up high blasting the monti with light. I moved one down to midway in my tank and the polyps didn't extend at all. My system is under 3w Cree LED's and they're sustaining just fine up high.

Both of them would do much better with more light. I have mine 4 inches from the water under LEDs and the things will not stop growing
