Mounting an External Pump?

Going from a submersible pump (Mag 24) to an external pump for the skimmer (MRC-2). Would like to know how the rest of the world mounts up the pump motor. Do you put it up on bushings or just bolt it down to a slab of plywood? Thanks!

I mounted my Velocity T4 to a small peice of plywood, then siliconed the plywood to the bottom of my stand. My silicone is about 1/4" thick. The silicone dampens the vibration and it also hold it in place.

I use a matting that comes between the rolls of paper at work. You can build it up on wood then put liner in between it and underneath the wood. Great for stopping any vibrations

I placed my pump on a series of built up cork sheets and carpet padding for both sound deadening and flood protection, mouse pads also work well. Placing your sump on styrofoam and connecting the pump to the sump with flexible tubing will also help deaden the vibration noise. Consider lining the sides of your stand and bottom of the tank with foam like that from an old mattress pad.

i was concerned about a flood also - but my sump is setup in an area where there is a french drain surrounding the entire area (laundry area). So I just placed thick styro underneath to deal with the vibration. Overall the tarpon is pretty quiet though - just huge.

I built a little platform and used styrofoam under it.
Just make sure when you plumb it that you put a valve before and one after and unions before the intake and after the output, that way you can close the valves and remove the pump if you need to replace it.
