Mounting new 250W SE in Canopy

I've just finished my new canopy and am getting ready to mount two 250W SE, spider reflectors/ice cap ballast, lights. Do I screw the reflector directly up tight to the wood top or should I put some type of heat resistant material between the reflector and the wood? Thanks for the reply's.

We screwed our reflectors right into the wood and have never seen any damaged caused by it (even with 400s).
