Moving a tank help.

Little back story: I'm getting married in May & we're currently living in an apartment/condo. Our rent is basically a mortgage & our lease is up in June. We have the opportunity to live at my mothers for a few years to save money for a house.
I just cycled my tank in December.

55g w/ 20g sump
Current Stock:
(2)Black & White Clowns
(1)Melanarus Wrasse
(1)Tail spot blenny
(1)Yasha Goby
(1)Pistol Shrimp

Corals:
6 or so Zoa's
Toadstool leather
Orange Frogspawn

What would be the proper way to do this? I'm going down to AO tonight to pickup the salt. I'm remember reading Ethan helped out Nikki & mnat in a move. I would have no problem paying to get this done. I've grown an attachment to my fish in this short period of time.

Here I thought I'd be at my apartment for another 2 years. Life, what a ride it is.

I got you Kevin. When it comes time I can come help you. I used to do tank service and I've broken down and moved a bunch of tanks. Buckets, heaters, powerheads and we should be OK. The only thing I would consider replacing would be sand. A couple bags of live sand or dead sand should be OK. Some Dr. Tims to help avoid a cycle and we should be good.

When we moved we were setting up two brand new tanks that had never had water in them. We called Ethan at AO and he came down to do the plumbing and what not to setup the new tanks. I would highly recommend him for doing this. However, it sounds like if you are just moving your tank and setting it up as is in a new location, you can probably do this with the help of a few fellow reefers.

welp, I purchased everything(I think) for the move.
(purchased the battery backup because my mothers house loses power a few times during the summer)

Most likely will be moving it Saturday May 26th.
I'll be getting married the Sunday 20th of May & taking that whole week off.
It's going to be an non-stressful week! :hopelessness:

I lost a tail spot(disappeared) & the yasha goby(jumper). Only 3 fish left.
I'll have 2 15gal containers already mixing/heated at my mothers a few days before

As of right now im free that weekend so I can help if needed. Moving is stressful enough I can't imagine moving my tanks in august and having to worry about livestock.

I've moved my tank four times it's not as bad as you think!!! And I could give you a hand if you need more help since your only moving a few blocks from me...

Hi Kevin, it is a bit early, but i have a couple of suggestions. I find that it is easiest to take a tank move in stages. I like to remove coral first, then inverts, then fish, then live rock. Once everything is out of the tank, I like to clean the glass really well, and (circumstances permitting) move a clean tank.

Before you do the whole tank move, I would move the fish to you moms and put them in a small tank, with a heater and HOB filter. Since yu have a whole week, i would probably do this a day or two before the official tank move if I were you.

I would also buy a rubber made (or spare tank) sufficently large to hold your corals, and set it up with water a heater and a power head at your moms. I would pull all of the non- encrusted coral ahead of time and move it over a day or so ahead of time.

If you want a quick lesson come to our house. We will be getting our tank tomorrow which we have to breakdown and pack it all up bring it home. Empty our 2 tanks at home move them out put the new tank in place and transfer all the livestock from 3 tanks and put it into the new tank. We will make you into a pro in no time. lol I plan on sitting down around midnight Sunday Morning

I highly recommend moving all of the zoas to my tank. Probably the best thing you can do to help in the move :)
