MP40 or MP10 Advice!

Good morning everybody,

I just set up a Innovative Marine Lagoon 50 AIO and I’m trying to figure out which pumps to use. I love ecotech because of how the motor is on the outside so I’m definitely set on them. Here is what I’m not sure which setup to run.

Two MP40s
or
Two MP10s
or
One MP40 and one MP10
I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

I think you’d be fine with an mp10 or two. My 165 gallon dt has 2 mp40 which is more than adequate. It used to have two mp10 in there too, but they weren’t needed.

the fish room has two lowboys with two mp10, and one with one mp10. None of them are running over 50 percent. I have a deep blue 60 frag that is waiting to get stood up, and I have the two mp10 from the dt for it. I may just use one...

I just realized my glass thickness is 10mm and the mp10’s max thickness is 9.5mm. Do you think the extra .5mm will be a problem?

I had them on 1/2 glass, they barely held on. I had to zip tie the cord to a mount, but it was in wall so you couldn’t see them...

1/2 inch is 12.7mm. So this doesn’t surprise me.

Had 2 Mp40s on my 120. 1/2" glass.
Keep the smallest spacer on it and definitely use the anchors and zipties to prevent a floor hit.
They're known to do a suicide dive every once in a while. Mine would go 1-2x a week.
