My 280g build....

Updates

SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC

Basement remodel is coming to a completion. We are at the hurry and wait stage as we wait for cabinets, flooring and fixtures. Only one surprise but unfortunately it was a major surprise...electrical. When the electrician was installing the sub panel for my fish room, he noticed that my main panel was significantly overloaded already. I had my brother in-law who is an electrical engineer check it out for confirmation and $5k later I can sleep at night now knowing my house won't burn down from an electrical overload.

We will have to compare notes, I need to finish off my basement and if I tried to do it myself I would probably burn the house down.

Just getting to the end of my basement finishing (600 ft^2, DIY)... Not for the faint of heart, and say goodbye to many many weekends! I'll probably be posting about it later too. Basement is the most challenging, due to water, heat, electricity for other floors all converging there, plus any dampness issues. But great to get free space!

Is "finishing off the basement" code for getting a bigger tank? Im right around the corner from you and you're welcome to come by anytime. this is the 2nd project Im using my contractor for and he does a great job.

Overflow and Euro are on !

Not the greatest pictures but I'm not being picky! I love the look the of the single piece eurobrace!

That is a nice looking tank, love the size and that eurobrace is really nice looking . Most braces take away from the tanks look, thats the first one I have seen that adds to the tanks beauty.

thanks qwik! the brace was one of the things that sold me on this tank. I wont be able to see it but from a structural integrity standpoint it definitely adds a lot more support than the traditional style eurobraces. Right now I feel like a kid at christmas counting the days until arrival.

Good news and bad news

The good news is the tank is on its way over the border from Canada and should be here Wed or Thurs next week :congratulatory:. Now for the bad....the light fixture I was having custom made by Sfiligoi has run into some problems. I was informed today that the supplier they get their led boards from has gone under and they havent been able to find a new supplier until this week. This will add another 6 weeks at a min to my order. They are giving me the option for a full refund or a discount on my order. I am not sure what to do at this point. :frown:

Go for full refund and go with Radions. Spend the money you saved on the tank on the lights ;)

thats what I am thinking....there would be an even greater savings on the lights if I took the refund and bought 6 radions. Question is would 6 be enough on a 72x36x28? From what I am seeing it should be, would just need to come up with a way to mount them all on one bracket.

Start with 6, you can always add later. You can also aquascape "intelligently" and get away with 6 with room to spare.

Think, Think, Think.....:stupid:

Stand is in place

Stand is in place and ready to go. I don't have a firm delivery date yet but I am hoping that it will be Friday so I will have all weekend to stare at it!!!! I'm already feeling bad for the movers and the pain they will be in after carrying this beast down the stairs. Estimated weight is 650lbs...ouch.
