My 280g build....

its being built by Atlas Custom Tank's in Canada. They just started marketing in the US and I found them thru Tim at Aquatics Elite. Their prices are very good and they are one of the only builders that offers a piece euro brace. There's three partners and 2 of the three have been building tanks for 10 yrs now. I am very anxious to see it.

Hows this for a crate??????

I just got this picture of my tank crated and going on the truck. The crate is 80x48x35.

Yes it is!!! That was taken on Friday morning and it just cleared US Customs so hopefully I will have it Friday or early next week!!!

So who has the pleasure of getting it into your basement?

I got in touch with the movers that Trop uses and have hired them to do it. The tank will be delivered to their docks in Eatontown and then they will deliver it to me.

Thoes guys are awesome. They really know how to move the tanks..

I keep on reminding them about how heavy the tank is, the size of it and that it has to go in the basement. They keep telling me to relax and not watch while they are doing it.

Finally....after 10 months of planning it has arrived!!!!!

Hiring the movers was one of the best decisions I made during this entire project!!!

That tank does not look like it would fit through those doors. That thing is beautiful. How long did the whole process take from ordering to delivery to your house?

Very nice tank!

And the movers were a great choice!

I can say that having moved a 1,200 pound 375 glass tank three times!

Thanks Rich! They had to flip the tank in order to get it down the stairs. These guys were truly amazing, so exact with the movements and each one of them knew exactly what they were supposed to do when they started to move from one spot to another.

I placed my order for the tank a week before thanksgiving and the holidays definitely added some down time in the production of it so I would think that it could have ony taken 2 months if I had ordered it not so close to the holidays. Overall I am pretty pleased with the quality of the tank and seams. I love the single piece eurobrace on the top of the tank and I am very happy with the external overflow which I will post more pictures of later. In the end, I probably should have just gone with the marineland 300 DD tank and dealth with the internal overflows since the price difference is about half. I've just hated having internal overflows in my small tank and didnt want to deal with them on the big tank. Personal preference I guess.

Three to four Apollo’s mounted with their long axis perpendicular to the length of that tank would sure look good!

And I would have liked to see a video of them getting that tank through the Bilco. Four of use moved a 180 up a Bilco, and we broke our cojones.

Looking good!

Now thats funny Paul!!!!!:applause: I have to tell you that I am intrigued. The higher par levels over the AI can be explained by the number of leds each unit has...imo. AI's have 24 led's and the apollo has 55 from what I can tell. Apollo is saying that all I would need is 3 of them which would be a huge savings over what my current lighting plan is with the custom fixture from sfiligoi which I am having some production issues with after having waited 3 months already.

Once they got to the doors I had to walk away and not watch. These guys dont fool around!

My goal is to have water in this within the next 2 weeks.

a few more pictures

I hope to have it all plumbed up by the end of next week and water in it next weekend.

Did the tank come with some type of dark plexiglass to cover the front of the overflow or will you leave it like that. Love that ATB skimmer you have in the sump. I miss mine. Though my Alpha 250 is doing a hell of a job on the 300 gallon of water volume that I'm running now.
