My campaign speech

Hi my name is James and I am running for re-election of the secretary position.

Before I go into my speech let me provide a little background. I am a IT person for Stockton and I am a father to two wonderful girls. I am an active person. Beside being a member of this club I am a goalkeeper training for soccer, a coach for 5 and 6 year older, and now I am the VP of Rec for my town's soccer program.

Now that you know a little more about me let me provide background of this hobby. I been doing saltwater for about 3 years and still learning everyday. I am working on building a controller out of a raspberry pi. I been doing freshwater for years but never took off. Normally I would be into it for a month then let it go. The show 'Tanked' would spark my interested up here and there. One day while looking at my empty 36g tank I decided to do saltwater. Not too long after my 36g was going I upgraded to a 54g tank (which I blame my wife). That tank was my fav tank. After running that tank for about 2 years I moved back into my mom's house so I can try and save for my own house. I wasn't here long before I got the ich for saltwater again. I setup my 36g tank backup and been running with that.

Now about this is. I hit up groups on Google+ and YouTube when I first started. After talking with folks on those sites and joining large FB groups that full of trolls I knew I needed a better option. I was watching a YouTube video of a club president. He explained how his club was like a family. He even went into a story where one member's car wouldn't start. Other members said they would give her a ride while others help her troubleshoot the issue. This issue wasn't hobby related but the group was there for each others. I came across NJRC many time but felt like I had to be a paid member to be part of it. After about a month of skimming the site I decided to join the free membership. The club was very welcoming and right away was interested in what I had to say (even about my pi project). I saw a meeting coming up at TSM. I did not know what to expect. I even ate lunch before going (thinking if there was food it wouldn't be much). I walked into a great place with out standing food. I meet folks like @kschweer and @Bad Fish there. They all knew me as the guy building his own controller. They even said maybe I could help them with the site backend. That night I went home, with a new frag, and became a paid member. After talking with Ed and Kevin I was given keys to the kingdom to help improve the site. The first thing I wanted to do was tackle some of the issues like the membership cards not working. It became quickly the site needed a face-lift. I flipped my focus and worked on a re-design of the site to what it is now. After seeing not many folks running for the board and the scare of the club shutting down I decided to run. I first wanted to be a DAL but with the secretary seat open I decided to run for that seat. Since taking office my goal was to improve our backend cause the permissions were not set correctly. After working with the BOD I started rolling out changes. I also tackled our spam issue.

Before I go on too long I will end it there.

I would like you guys to vote for me cause I feel like my job isn't done.

James has done so much for this site it's hard to even explain. While I was President I was clueless with technology and James stepped up and helped out everywhere. The look of the site including colors, placement of things on the homepage, helpful stickies and much more are a result of James’s hard work and skill. He is an asset to this club to say the least.

Can not say enough about how much Tigs has put into this site and this group of friends.
Plus with all his skills he's not a *&^% about it.
Great guy, would hack off my own leg with a fork to get to a voting booth to vote for him.

My writing skills are poor. I have spent much time working on my writing. I still make messed up many times (mostly when I rush it). I wrote this while in bed and took me a good amount of time to type, fix, change, type, fix change, etc... lol
