Haha I've often wondered that myself. Any anemone I put in the tank turns to bubbled tips. No matter what. The two big greens were in a guys tank for years not bubbling once. When I got em home, an hour later they were as they are in the pics

They're really sharp! Kinda influencing me to add some more Nems....Anything in particular you dose that you think may be beneficial to them?

a cool BTA heaven...! they are good enough to be a winner for the POTM !! ( if you submit them... )
:encouragement:

what lights are you using?

For the past year and a half I have been using an 8 bulb The light so 8x 54w t5 bulbs.

Current configuration back to front

Uvl super actinic
Ati blue plus
Kz Fiji pink
Ati aquablue special (daylight bulb)

I love the color range. But I have a bunch of Cree xp-e royal blues, blues, green, and turquoise LEDS coming in the mail for some DIY supplementation. 40 LEDS all together so an extra 120w. I might eliminate some of the t5 bulbs depending once I get the LEDS running.

i *think* it is the lights that did the trick...
please keep an eye on them AFTER you add in the LEDs... to see if they makes a different or not...
i like it the way it is right now, all bubble up... ( I also heard some peoples said in the wild they are not bubble up that much.... )

I believe it is something to do with the lights as well, so I will be experimenting. So far there is no concrete evidence On what makes em bubble or straight tentacle, so maybe I can come up with an answer!

And I have always loved the merchantville-pennsauken water that I get at my house Haha maybe that has something to do with it as well lol

there was one theory claim that - they wanted more lights, hence bubble up to absorbing more...

@ malulu

I'm not sure the par I'm getting from my lights, but with 8 t5 bulbs and some anemones about 8" from the fixture, I don't think that is correct. They were the same (the ones I had at the time) under my 2x 250w Phoenix hqi halides run off icecap ballasts. roughly the same distance.

I feel as though when the tentacles stretch out 10x longer that they are more so reaching for light as some other corals, I.e. palythoas do. The anemones I have received from other reefers are always much larger in the tanks they are in, and 90% of the time they were under much weaker lights.

Thank you for all the comments as well! I love em. Just got home from work and found that the big blood red one in the full nem side picture split. First anemone I've ever had split in the few years I've had em!
