My first Nano (10 gal)

I figured I'd start a new thread for this tank now that its up and running.

Its a 10 gal with a hob filter full of rubble rock. Skipped the cycling aspect because most of the water was out of my display as well as the rubble rock and some LR. Only thing new in the tank is the sand and one rock. As far as inhabitants its more my daughters choise vs mine. I just kind of tell her her options and if she likes something, she gets it. Right now there is 1 PJ cardinal, 1 Yellow Clown Goby, 2 snails, and a emerald crab(will this be okay with sexy shrimp?). I put a small frag of zoa's in there that I got off of mfisher and a rock out of my display that has some mushrooms on it. So far the corals haven't opened up and I'm not 100% sure why. One thought was the lighting. The lighting is a 2 bulb 24 watt t5ho and there is a glass top to help slow evaporation.
Here's a couple of pics.

Congrats on the new set up.
I would suggest adding an instant cycle product if you have not already, especially if you used dry sand. You may also want to consider adding more rock (no skimmer, so the more rock, the more surface area for de- nitrifying bacteria to colonize).
Yiu may also want more flow, i would suggest a koralia nano or koralia 1.
Have you tested? Do you have ammonia?

So I pulled the rock with mushrooms out and put it back into my display because 2 of the mushrooms detached. I figured I'd buy some dry base rock and put it in my FO and take the LR from there and put that into the nano.

So while I was doing all the water changes today I decided I'd put 2 different polyps and 2 1" kenya trees on a oyster shell and see if any of them make it. If none of them do, then it will be a FO nano. :(

For some reason one of the sexy shrimp decided to pull the kenya off the rock. Seen it walking around with it this morning. Doesn't look like it ate it as its just sitting on the sand unharmed, just brought it back to the rock they're all hanging out on. Hope I don't have a coral killer on my hands. :nervous: I've been nervous ever since reading NikkiT post about hers going rogue.

Last night I put half my anthelia rock in the nano as it was just getting destroyed by my hammer anyway. Hopefully it makes it.

So its going to be a fish and invert tank as I've tried kenya tree's, mushrooms, zoa's and anthelia and all have died or are on there way out. On the plus side I still haven't lost any of the fish or inverts. O'well.

Tank is doing ALOT better. Only thing I did was kept up with the 30% water changes a week and went from the little hob filter to the one ment for 50-75 gal tank. That helped add a lot more flow as well. It still has the one damsel, one emerald crab, and one snail. I now have some red zoa's and 3 different types of button polyps in there doing well. Its weird though, I've tried softies and they don't do well. Kenya tree shriveled up to nothing and a gsp frag refuses to open. Guess it will be a zoa only tank.
