My first pico (3 gallon JBJ)

I just thought id share pics of my new pico. Just finished setting it up. I transferred water for my 34 gallon and took some live rock out of my fuge. This was the easiest setup ever. Ill probably add some coral within the next few days. Heres some pics

Looks good. I like the black sand. I also like the "insta-reef" approach. I've done that for a couple nanos. There's something kind of cool about buying a tank one day and having an active reef the next!

Good luck with it and keep the pics coming.

I really like how that looks.. Really nice! I am going to be watching this thread cause I really like the sand color myself and want to see how clean it stays. I wish you all the best on this. Gonna be awesome I can tell :D

I got it from Dr. Foster and smith. 3 gallon, 11-3/4" x 8-7/8" x 8" tank; compact fluorescent Clamp-on Lamp fixture with 9W 50/50 lamp and remote ballast; 40 gph Pico powerfilter.

They are very cool...really want one. Maybe a shrimp and few frags. I wonder if my job would let me have one haha. ;D Probably not. :'(

Looks Nice!

Be very cautious with that black sand. I have it in my 90g and while it stays on the bottom very nicely, if it does happen to swirl around and get in between your mag scraper (if you have one) it will scratch like crazy!

Good Luck with the tank...these little nano's are starting to interest me...I'm going to have to start looking into them ::)

Thanks alot for all the positive feedback.

Brian:Thanks for the heads up. You should try one out. i guarantee youll be hooked on the beautiful simplicity that is nano reefing ;)
steve:I think i might add an additional powerhead for a little more flow. But it has to be
JR: I was initially going to set this one up in my office but i realized im really not in my office often enough to give it the TLC she might need.(top offs and the like)

I just finished stocking my tank. Some of the coral are still closed so ill have to take some more pics later. Sorry for the crappy pics.. i was kinda lazy about taking them.

I dont plan on putting any fish in there but i might add an invertebrate or two. Im trying to keep the bioload as low as possible.

Sounds like a good plan have seen some with just a sexy shrimp something like that. Though I would be tempted by a tiny goby or combo goby/shrimp.

I am very tempted to add some sexy shrimp and and a pom pom crab.....but I think for now ill leave it with just corals.maybe

I just got an all-in-one printer, scanner, fax, can opener, etc and now I've got a big empty space on my desk where my fax machine used to be. I wonder what I could put there? ::)

How do you like the lighting? Looks pretty bright in the pictures.
