Only problem extending the down pipe is it will interfere with changing the sock.there is a hole at the top of the overflow. I'm not used to having a protein skimmer sit in so much water though it was high am I wrong?

Might have to make a little Shelf for the skimmer to sit on if the water is to deep

Yes and that is the only pathway for water to enter that chamber. I find that odd usually there are slots in the wall about midway not all the way up like that

I honestly don't understand this set up. Seems if the water level is low it won't reach the skimmer

Can you make deeper notches in the teeth?

The set up could be backwards too. Maybe the empty chamber is where the return water comes in, then trickles through the teeth

Chamber 5 : Intake / 4" Filter sock holder /Skimmer / Probe holders

Not liking this sump. I really don't know how you are supposed to use a skimmer with the water that high
