You should also never add 20 fish at anytime to any fish tank old Or new. No matter how big it is .you really shouldn’t add a lot of fish.

The reason you don’t use cooper in the display is because it stays in the tank and it will effect coral in the future.

I have learned in this hobby nothing good happens fast.

If you have ich in your new tank that is not a good thing. You will continue to have fish death in that tank until you fix it. By leaving It with no fish for 90.

I have two 40B QT tanks which have three rocks in each tank to create a cave. I buy no more than two fish at a time. When a fish comes home with me it goes straight into the QT and it stays there for 5 weeks. I wouldn't treat the fish unless it shows a problem. I have never had to treat (knock on wood) a fish in the last 15 years. Your fish are all stressed out

i agree with all those things. so lets just agree my tank move wasnt perfect for different reasons, but the best thing to do for my fish at this point is get the fish medicated and move on. as far as removing copper from tank and rock (i dont have sand), that is done with cuprisorb. i dont expect to even attempt to put corals in my tank for 6 months, but we will see how it turns out and what the test kits say. i think my tank future looks more like ich eradication rather than ich management. i had a single coral in my tank for the last two years which ive already given away, so waiting 6 months or however long it might take to put in corals is not a big deal for me.

so not too much going on with the tank. as mentioned I did have that ich out break and I took some time to slowly ramp up the copper.

all the fish are looking great actually. most have lost the white spot and everybody is eating.

I'll say that my sailfin and powder blue had it the worst. powder is completely free of it and sailfin just has maybe 1 spot. I am trying to keep up with the nori as sailfin is suffering from a bit of hlle. it completely disappears after a bit of nori.

my water was getting a bit cloudy, probably from overfeeding and pulling chemical filtration, so I picked up a uv currently on sale at chewy. have a small DC pump I dialed down to run it at 290 gph. I was using this pump on my 15g nano but I never bought the larger loc-line so it was being wasted plus I gave away the couple of frags I had in there so the stock pump will be enough flow for now.

nothing else has happened to this tank except I moved a large bag of bio media, like almost 10 lbs, to the sump. I'll move my bricks down to the sump as well when the baby hippo grows a bit or finds a new home. my plan for this corner of the tank is to do some overhanging shelves and maybe a small island.

I guess the last note is that I did find those two black and white chromis that came from my live aquaria order. as suspected they were both dead. one disappeared around 24 hours and the other disappeared about 48 hours after adding the to the tank. considering the two blue tangs and the two banggai cardnals are in good shape, - one of the lemon chromis they sent is really tiny as well, I mean smaller than the tiny hippo tang so I don't know what to say. they were really beautiful fish, around $20 a pop so I sent an email to LA yesterday. let you know how they respond.

oh I forgot. one mote thing did happen... I added a gate valve to the full siphon line of my bean animal set up. but I'm still unhappy with the noise. it is much less now but the standard wier on this tank doesn't allow enough water to pass through for silent operation. if you can remember, I use one wier for my active drains and the other houses my return and emergency drain.

my choices to solve this issue is to either replumb so that there is 1 active drain in each wier. I don't want to do this because ideally I want return on one side and drain on the other. or what I'll probably do is take my Dremel to the active drain wier and create horizontal spaces to allow more flow. and because 1 wier isn't draining, I'll have to stick a small pump in there so the water doesn't remain stagnant

I can Dremel a line around this corner. I mean it'd be easier to just pop out that return cutout but fish snails and crabs could get in there clog up my drain. return pump is off for this picture.

Just jumped in, that is a fantastic tank and fantastic work on the stand and black base.
Bit odd on the copper treatment in the DT from what I understand, but as someone who doesn't QT (aside from myself and family lately), no real experience.
But I am very curious how well the cuprisorb works once your treatment is done and if it effects corals when introduced.

first time for me too, i guess we'll see but i've run across a handful of individuals that say it works. cuprisorb is made by seachem, probably my favorite chemical company in the hobby, it states that that it will remove copper and heavy metals from substrate and the resin is rechargeable. maybe i'll run it forever but thats not a bad idea even if you've never run copper in your tank because it removes heavy metals in addition to copper.

I’ve seen ur tank in person and I think you’ve done a great job your fish are beautiful

thanks buddy! I haven't done much really, just try to make sure they are all eating and keep them healthy.

I added a couple more banggai yesterday. they survived the first night. fish are hard to come by these days but I found two at Petco in manalapan. they were there for 10 weeks and looked healthy, guy said they haven't had new fish in 7 weeks. I just threw them in since I'm already running copper. originally I was going to do a 72 day treatment but I'm considering this as day 1 of 30 days. and just go from there. I was already about 2 weeks into my current treatment and everything looking good.
