I've never heard of the ranco controller. How does it work? What does it do?

i have one, works great. you set the temp you want your heaters to turn on at, and it turns the heaters on for you. this way, your heater will never get stuck and make the tank temp go up to 90 degrees (heard that horror story too many times). you can also set a temp for when the tank gets too hot to power on fans or a chiller. i have my heaters set to 76, fans set at 78. so 77 is my happy medium. i have my chiller set for 79. my tank stays at about 78 all day in the summer (no ac in my basement). for $100 its a sound investiment.

i think there are two different versions of the ranco controller. one that only controls one item (heater OR fan/chiller) and the other that controls two (heater & fan/chiller). spend the extra and get the dual!
