My Tank Pictures

Not a whole lot new to update. I put one new pic up in my album of the most recent addition. Apparently I am not allowed to post img links or it contains something offensive.

I have since bought more lights. I am still trying to get the right balance of blue. I installed a 36" deep blue Current USA Truelumen Pro and it is an ok light. I hooked it to a meanwell driver and have the Apex running the dimming. I did also buy 2 Ecoxotic stunner strip to supplement more blue/magenta since I have plenty of headroom left on my driver.

Last night I got the Neptune AFS. Holy crap is that thing loud. It is replacing my Ehiem Twinfeeder which has served me well.

Latest updates....

I took my GFO offline as I got my phosphates under control and decided to bio-pellets. Bio-pellets have been tumbling for about a month and a week now. Nitrates are about 10ppm, we will see if they come down more or stay idle. Phosphates I have not tested with the pellets running but will probably do that tonight, but nuisance algae seems in check.

Bought a Jebao DC-9000 and should be here mid week, which looks like more soldering in my future to get it connected to the Apex. It will replace the Reeflo BH1100 I am currently running.

Last night I got a treat, my Mandarin's did their mating dance when I was looking into the tank. I have seen videos of this but never in my own tank. I tried to video it, but by the time I got my phone they stopped or maybe thought I was being perverted.

Very nice, spawining fish is always a good sign of tank health. Ours did the dance for while and then we moved and they stopped. Really cool to watch.

Nice looking fish! That is great that your mandarins are spawning. Means that they are nice and healthy. :)

More new stuff! Apparently I have a few Stomatella snails....I say a few because I can only count the ones I see. For whatever reason I originally thought they were sponges....haha

New pics! The Rose anemone is old, but this is the update on it's rehab. The old picture of the anem is in my Album for comparison.

New updates:

Jebao is up and running like a champ. Had to silicone the casing as it was leaking and now I am leak free. I have a drip pan under it in case it decides to start up again.

When my old pump tripped my GFI receptacle the biopellet reactor was down for 4 hours. So to answer my own question, 7 hours doesn't destroy it.

I also found this guy on one of my nems....

Is that a little shrimp? Did it hitchhike in or did you buy it?

Sexy shrimp, communal with those types of nems. If you can find more, they do great and in groups and breed really easyily in captivity.

When I get a chance I will take a picture but I bought a piece of tight branching birdsnest. The piece is about 2-3 inches. Seems I got another hitchhiker! It is a goby, almost looks like a panda goby at about 1/2 inch. Definitely a cool addition and hard as hell to get a picture of....almost like he knows when the camera is out.

Pellets have been tumbling for about 3 months now and am running a total of ~500ml. It took a while but my phosphates are finally under control at about .05. Polyp extension on my green toadstool seems to have increased a bit, total extension is probably about 2".

I originally topped off at 250ml of pellets and was not getting the results I would have hoped. I added more pellets until I got to the 500ml and that seems to be where my sweet spot is.

The Jebao I got leaks a little bit so I made a drip pan for it out of some Chinese take out container....lol It leaks slow enough to evaporate before it even get 1/4 full. So I have an extra maintenance item every week but that is what you get for $130 pumps I guess.

Been 3 weeks now, and I have not had to clean the glass....or acrylic in my case. Since the biopellets kicked in the film buildup has been minimal and the snails have more then kept pace keeping it clean. the coralline seems to have sprouted quickly on the sides near the back and on the back though.

I've been noticing more glass algae as of late, is that a sign I need more biopellets? I know we discussed this before. I'm only up to 3 cups I believe.
