Thats a great store and worth the trip. Stock up on your salt and dry goods while your there it's usually a great price

OK, so who's going tomorrow? I'm kinda changing my mind cause of the drive. I know I will regret it if I don't go.

Anyway, I will try to make this event. Sounds like a second chance for those of us who couldn't make MACNA (although I'm sure it won't quite compare.)

LOL. Not even CLOSE! There's nothing in the world like a MACNA. Anyone who CAN get to Orlando this year SHOULD. That show should ROCK!

So I saw this comment on another board. Just want to make it clear - MACNA is not a swap meet. Macna is a place where a variety of speakers and hobbyists descend up on a single location for 3 days to talk/share/party (not necessarily in that order) and oogle at a variety of products. In the MACNA at NJ we had 3 days of raffles!! So if you couldn't make it one day - you could try your luck with the other set of raffles.

It's more of an educational event. Example - MOFIB was there giving away rotifers and advice on breeding. Randy Reed gave a talk on raising rotifers. Kelly gave a talk on how to hand-force- feed your fish. Justin Credible was showing us how to frag different colonies and merge the 3 into one.

Anyways - I think the NCPARS event is going to be great - it's just that I would say go there for the right reasons - not because you think it will be a replacement for MACNA. I'm signed up for Orlando...it'll be a family vacation!

Phil, I was referring to a second chance to see the speakers and presentations at this event, not just the frag swap portion, when I posted that originally. I know this is no way on scale with MACNA, but it seems like they are trying to have a similar theme (speakers, frag swap, raffles?) and going here would be a chance to learn a lil something you didn't already know about the hobby anyway.

I do see your point though. There are probably many people who view MACNA as just a "frag swap" though and I agree with your reasons for pointing this out.

sorry george - when i wrote that i was thinking of someone else and quoted you instead. :p Anyways - I think the drive is worth it. But I would be in the dog house for a looooooooooooong time if I skipped out on the piano recital.

I've never been to something fishy - i assume that is also in PA? near philly?

So fess up - besides smcooler - who went? I want to hear about how awesome it was. I went to a recital (there were 3 that day) and endured the longest day of piano music ever. At least, it felt that way.

My mother ended up going and made out really well. She won an ice cap led retro and got some good deals on frags, including picking up some stuff from stan for me. ;D

I wanted to go but my son had a b-day party to go to,and well, when they're 13 thats a gotta do thing..*sighs* so the hobby took a back burner :(
