need advice....PLEASE!

OK HERES THE SCOOP....i have a 125gallon thats in the works. in the mean time i have a 40breeder setup, that is in total disaster mode!!! i have been battling aptasia for the past few months with absolutely no success! and now im having a huge biospiris problem(speeling)??. so i have a sloution(i think)...so here we go..

i have some new rock(uncured) that i just started curing. i plan to take the rock in my 40breeder out, and replace it with the new clean cured rock. im cleaning out my fuge very good, and replacing my chaeto.

hopefully i can rid the tank of the aptasias, and biospi..

any drawbacks to doing this? i know im gonna loose a lot of life from my rock, but i dont wanna have this problem in my new 125.

also, i have a finger leather, and a tyree toadstool, which are quite large...attached to peices of rock. which yes have a couple aptasia on them. what would be the best way to remove these corals. i know i can frag them, but i really like the size of them.

lots of advice and comments are greatly appreciated!!!!!

THANX!!

There's something out there called Aiptasia-X i believe. It's supposed to kill aiptasia dead and it's guaranteed to work, it says it's reef safe also. I know AO carries it. might be worth a shot.

you gotta do what i did kill the big aptasia and as much as the small ones and get like 4 peppermint shrimp and dont feed your tank for a week they will eat them thats what i did and they havent come back

I had a similar issue with the Aiptasia. I used Aiptasia-X with great success. The key there was to go in slow and have the Aiptasia curl around the injector. This meant they were not in protective mode and less likely to release their spores. Then you inject. Try not to leave any aiptasia behind, although you will certainly miss some.

Then inject any missed as soon as you see them.

All pumps should be off for at least 10 minutes.

Alternatively you can boil the rocks.

The peppermints are hit or miss with Aiptasia IME.

I had 3 hitch in on the LR I bought from a fellow njrc reefer.

First one was small on a portable piece of LR. Took it out and dropped a squirt of lemon juice. Watched it turn white and die.

Second one was larger and someone had migrated onto the one big piece of LR I cannot move. I ignored it. It grew larger until my wife said - there's a little one next to it. D'oh!

My solution: I took quarter size amount of epoxy and sealed it. I touched the anemone until it shrunk back into it's hole. Then I sealed the hole with epoxy. Ditto the baby one. Been a week and haven't seen either of them.

i have way too many to try the epoxy deal. i removed almost all my coral today into a qt tank/frag tank.. so im gonna go to town on anything that dont belong... if i dont win, out goes the old rock, and in goes the new!!!

so i drive past swedesboro everyday, when can i pick em up??? ;D if this works ill buy ya a case of beer, or another fish(as long as it costs the same as a case) ;)

How is the aptasia problem at this time. I had the same issue and got a couple or large peppermint shrimp. In about a few weeks, I noticed that most of the aptasia disappeared. I still have a few here and there, but not much.

He didn't like rics glued on a rock and was pulling them off. He has been in the sump over 4 months now. He eats any kind of food frozen and flake along with the aiptasia

its gotten pretty bad, that why i removed almost all my coral into a frag tank....mostly just mushrooms, and my finger leather and tyree toadstool
