Need Help! Algae Problem

I have acquired this algae after the frag swap and it has been hell trying to get rid of it. I took out literally half of my live rock and let it die and pressure washed it off. This algae still came back. I have been picking it off the rocks but it just grows back. My tangs don't touch it and the hermits and snails do not eat it either. It is really an annoyance and I am not sure what I can do to get rid of it. Any help is much appreciated.

get rid of it's food, and the algea will follow, if not using phosban yet, then start, do a couple big water changes, lighten up on feeding, and shorten lighting cycle..... and the algea will go away.

i agree. algae thrives in nutrient rich waters.
that looks like bryopsis to me. adding more eating, pooping critters is never the answer to algae issues.

You can also try boosting your magnesium. I had a TERRIBLE bryopsis problem and that took care of it. If I'm not mistaken you can raise it to 1500 - 1600 ppm and that should take care of it.

I will try upping the Mg... Time to order some and a test kit. This stuff is really frustrating thats for sure.

i had the same stuff. took over my tank. it ate my star polyps. haha. just removed whatever i could , stopped feeding frozen. knocked back what little lighting i had to 8 hrs a day and used phos ban and its pretty much gone. . . . . it was really, really bad
