Need help building the tackle box

Okay so I love to fish. I go often on my grandfathers boat in the bay but I also enjoy some lake fishing. I had a nice tackle box but it was lost when I moved. Im heading out to restock today and I know alot of you fish so can someone give me a list of some basic essentials? Just some light lake fishing, im catch and release.

What will you be fishing for? If for stripers May have a few lures I make laying around. Here's an example

Thanks Dan. Powerbait works well and also meal worms for trout. If you're looking at artificial baits for trout try some rooster tails or some other type of spinner baits. I have been doing some trout and bass fishing lately and have had success with these small plastic swim baits I got from dicks. I can't think of the name off the top of my head but they are just like the storm baits but very small I would say about 1/2-3/4 inch. For bass anything that has good tail movement. I like to use the Gary Yamamoto worm rigged "wacky style" personally.

Oh and if you're fishing trout stocked waters make sure to have your license and a trout stamp. Even if you're not fishing specifically for trout a game warden can and will give you a hard time.

Nice wood collection. Ive got a whole pegboard with way too many rm smiths, tatoos,.... I really should sell most of it. Honestly anymore I use sp minnows, mag darters, northbars, and paddle tails 99% of the time in the salt.

Kyle for freshwater you can pick up some 3 to 5 inch senkos and do some damage in the local lakes.

Yea its another hobby for me. Those are some I made in the past. I also collect them. Everything from leftys, to lokis, big rock, t-bone. Some I don't even fish for fear of losing them like my leftys.

Lol the last lefty I had got taken by a bluefish last year.

Are they ones you turned yourself? They look great. I picked up a lathe a few years ago with the intention of building plugs. Its a good at collecting dust.:) Unfortunately my rod lathe seems to be going in the same direction.

The ones in the picture were done by me. Unfortunately the shop isn't set up any more. I don't have room at my new place. My rod lathe is down as well. Can't wait till I have the room to set it back up I really enjoyed making them. It's a great feeling catching a fish on a plug you made.

Wow guys thanks for all the info. Went out to a local lake with my 12 year old brother and caught some things. It was his first time. Few small fish nothing crazy but it was a great time

I fish saltwater only and I can't even tell you were to start. I have so much tackle and rods and reels for almost every application. I fish almost exclusively from my boat though. I have been selling off my surf stuff though. What do you plan on fishing for? Just freshwater or salt?

Someone already mentioned Power Worms. I also love top water action and nothing beats a Tiny Torpedo for me. I also love smaller sized Slug-gos. Amazing action.
