When I saw the Oceanic stand for my 180 I was shocked. I thought "there's NO WAY this thing can hold up a full tank". It does though. I guess we're all just way too conservative due to our lack of degrees in physics and weight distribution. You should see the monstrousity I built to hold my 125. You could park a truck on it!

Johns right, the commercial stands are made of 1" boards. Depends if you stand will have legs or sides. The commercial stands have sides which helps to distribute the weight. With legs all the stress is on the legs

I wish I knew how they do it. You gotta check out my contraption that I posted in the diy section. Its not that bad for my first time with no tools but a drill. :p
