Need to print purchased professional picture

I purchased a professional digital picture of my daughters with the understanding that I was allowed to print my own copies of the photos.

However, when I opened the photos, the image defaults to 19% of the raw image, and is very pixelated looking.

Presumably it is defaulting to 19% so the image can fit on a standard piece of paper.

If I look at the image at 100% the image becomes very sharp, but at that point I would only be able to fit one eye on a piece of paper.

So now to my question. How do you modify the digital image such that it retains the sharpness of the image at 100%, but is small enough to become a nice 5X7 or 8X10 printed photo.

Hey Dave, what's the format of the picture? If it's a jpeg, you can simply resize using Microsoft
paint, Photoshop, or any photo program etc. With the new smaller size, you should be able
to print just fine-

If your picture is in raw, you'll need to convert it to jpeg- raw pics when printed come out pixelated

If you have a lab print the picture it will render just fine, even though it looks pixelated on the screen. I'm thinking this is more a limitation of your monitor than Windows ability to render the file to the printer. No matter how large my pictures are when I go to print them using the Windows print utility they render fine in print. Have you tried printing it yet?

Just a word of caution, most photo labs will not print professional pictures without written consent of the photographer.

The file is a JPEG.

I have honestly never experienced this situation before.  I have always been able to re-size or print pictures no matter the size of the file.

I tried re-sizing the photo, but for some reason it will not re-size without retaining the pixelation.

I tried printing the pics as and they come out very pixelated looking.

But if I look on my monitor at 100% of the pics size, it looks very clear and sharp.

Very strange situation, that I have never seen.

We are also reaching out to the photographer to see what they may be able to tell us.
