well, my jebao controller went out, so instead of getting a replacement, I was going to get this system on my next tank, now it's going to come a bit early. Hopefully they work out nicely, anyone else using them yet? And on what size tank and %?
To anyone who might be interested, my first impressions. I didn't have much time the day i got it to mess with it, so i put them in and put them on random chaotic flow during the day and another random but less chaotic flow at night. I was second guessing myself at first on if they were worth it. Once i actually sat down to mess with it, i realized just how much control I have and that i can create random different flows during the day that make sure my sps get hit from all angles with both a strong current and at other times a weaker current. It's not just a varying amount of strength from the same direction all the time now. I'm still not done tweaking it, but i am already seeing it is well worth the investment to create a much better flow environment than what i had previously.
What do you think about the flow stream. In doing some reading it seems as though it is more of a narrow direct stream as opposed to a wide stream. Also what size tank are you running on?
I think with vortec you would get a wider flow, i'm going by looks of the pump though and not actual experience with them. With that said, i'm getting a wider flow than i did with my RW series jebao's. It's a 90g tank. I have on on the top right in the back angled slightly down, on on the left side 3/4 of the way to the front and a bit lower, roughly 5 inches below the surface, angled straight, nothing pointing directly at a coral. Making the pumps fight each other with the pipeline and pulse settings is what generates a nice back and forth current, almost like a wave coming in and going out, i set it to 10 seconds so its not a standing back and forth wave, and you get some nice turbulence through the entire tank. I have the second pump set on inverse, so it does the exact opposite of the first one.
