I wanted to go as bad or worse than you Ed, but after losing my Mother in law Saturday and the funeral yesterday, I am WIPED...I guess I'll have to try again next year

+1 Sorry to hear this.
My brother went to stony brook and as I recall it was about a 2 1/2 hr drive from MANHATTAN to get there! The LI Aquarium is even further east in riverhead and there is zero probability in my opinion of getting there from NJ in under 3 hrs. The bridge/tunnel will murphy's law you, then you have to deal with any sat morning traffic on the island (to the malls etc) and driving in brooklyn thru the belt parkway.
In conclusion - zero traffic yes you can get there in under 3 hrs.
Anyone taking kids - you better have a portable DVD player.
Honestly if I had planned it better I would have stayed overnight in LI with my relatives and then head from there to riverhead. But coming home would still be a trek.
Did anyone go? We want pics!!!
