Best thing is to make a fish/ coral stocking list and build around that! Some livestock benefit or even require specific build around, so it's best to figure out what you want and go from there. There are also different approaches to this hobby, so finding people with similar tanks with longterm success are good to piggyback off.
There's a ton of videos on YT on starting a reef tank (BRS 52 weeks of reefing is the most popular series but theres a ton more) as well as some awesome reefers on here of various levels of experience who are always willing to help.
