I would assume these are good enough to grow coral right Jim?
I never tried them as a sole light source, but here is a quote from the link I provided:
"Excellent for adding shimmer and glitter lines, promoting strong coral and plant growth and enhancing colors you've never seen before."
I would say they are a little brighter than its respective T-5 tube. I was going to try them on a shallow frag tank, but never got around to it.
 
I hear ya. Well I was basically just looking to add on to my primary light source which is a reefbreeders photon48. But it doesn't have enough coverage so I was thinking maybe use these on the sides.. R they controllable?

I have a digital timer I was going to use for an on/off schedule. Other than that, I've never seen a dimmer for them.
