New new 40 breed

Here are the pix. The candy canes/ trumpet aren’t doing great. I just moved them down. I think they were in too direct flow/light. Hopefully they will do better. The CH 53 helicopter is parked at my work, for fleet week. It’s pretty cool, so I added a pic of that, with my son Chase.

Just visited Ocean Image Aquatics. Picked up a couple nice euphyllia specimens. Looks pretty nice in my tank if I do say so myself.

Yes. The torch is pretty high flow. Really swinging around. Doesn’t seem to mind though. The hammer is in a little less flow. The motion is very nice.

I think I’m starting to figure this out. Wasn’t doing well with LPS coral, but there improving steadily lately. Some have receded, but all are still alive. I haven’t added any since mid summer. Here is a quick photo of my tank taken today.

Sure here is a couple pics (Im a lousy photographer). A breef discription: I did have the tank drilled. The sump is made out of a 20L. I use jebao return pump and power heads. There cheep, but they work good, if you can live with the wires in the display. The skimmer is a Reef octo 110 SS. It’s bigger than required. I would get as smaller skimmer if could do it over. There is a single brs reactor. I just use chemipure in it. I would have been better off with a dual reactor with carbon in one and gfo in the other. Would save having to buy expensive chemipure. The lights are reefbreeder photon V2’s. They are only turned up to 35%. There still set to the manufacturers recommended acclimation settings. I’m going to experiment with Turning them up soon. They have good coverage for this size tank.

Thank you. Those clowns are great tank citizens. They got transferred from my original 10 gallon tank.

I have pulled my brittle star from the dt, and put it in the sump. It has been grabbing snails. I had to rescue 2 snails from its grasp. I have lost a second fire fish to carpet surfing. It was eating like a pig in the morning. Then it was gone. My wife found it latter while sweeping. This one didn’t even last 24 hours. My tank only has a 3/4 inch gap on each end. I’m not sure if it slipped through, or if it jumped out while I had the cover open, but I cant seem to keep them in the tank. My previous one lasted several months. My wife found that one on the floor when I was away for work. My clown pair, watchman gobby, cardinal fish, & blue chromis are all getting along fine. I’m thinking about adding a possum wrass next if I can find one.

The hammer coral is looking better than it has in a long time. Maybe if I keep it stable, I might actually get some growth. I haven’t had the best success with lps coral. I Can keep them alive, but can’t seem to get them to thrive. Since the frags look pretty good right now, I’m going to leave it alone. Do a weekly 10% water change, and just keep it on a steady course.

This candy cane would be nothing to brag about, but it’s the best it’s ever looked since I got it in June. It used to be 5 heads, but I only managed to save 3. It was a discount coral when I bought it, because it wasn’t in such great shape. I am very happy it’s finally coming around.

I bought a conch a few months ago. For about the first month, it was out cruising the sandbed daily. It quickly did a great job cleaning my sand. Best cuc member I ever had. Then one day, I noticed it wasn’t out all day. Days turned to weeks, and it’s been at least a month. Well tonight, I got home from work, and there it is, out cruising the tank. Glad to see this wonderful mollusk is alive and well.
