Wanted to share my latest additions to my tank. I purchased a purple ribbon gorgonian and a very pretty flower anenome from Aquarium Care Center in Ocean today and I could not be happier. I began to see polyp expansion after about 5 minutes in the tank and of course my longnose hawk made himself right at home on it. The anemone seems pretty content in it's little hole and I'm glad that I wasn't unlucky with him going into a spot I didn't like. So a big thank you to Mr. Stevenson for getting me such beautiful pieces and having a nice conversation with me. I will no doubt be going there for just about all of my future purchases and I reccomend that anybody who is in the area checks it out [emoji1]

Congrats!

You should think about setting up a QT for your future purchases

Thank you! I have considered it many times and I know close observation isn't as good as QT but I quite literally have no extra space for one. My room is about 10x10 and I have a full sized bed, a desk with my computer and my tank. My parents won't let me have my animal stuff in other rooms or else I would love to have one set up.

Nice. I picked up a few of the anems from ACC last week. John and staff know their stuff.

I was looking for a mini carpet but he suggested that I consider a flower instead since I couldn't find any stores with the mini's after quite a while. He gave me some care tips on it and it was honestly my first ever impulse buy in the hobby but I'm pretty sure I can handle it

Let me know about the gorgonIan I herd that they were hard to keep due to the fact they are non photo synthetic .. Phan from tidal gardens on YouTube does a nice video on a study he did trying to feed those with a sorta constant drip feeding system but stated he didn't have much success if you haven't already you should check out tidal gardens on YouTube they are very informative

I will update you in a few weeks but currently he is very happy. Like I said there was polyp expansion in minutes but ACC has some of the healthiest specimens I've seen after all of my travels so they might just be so good it traveled into my tank haha

The ribbon gorgonian like flow, not a ton but somewhere in the middle....and moderate lighting. I have one in my tank as well. My tank lights are off so he's not open View attachment 16367

Mine is recieving direct flow from the powerhead and a little bit that is bouncing off the glass. He is also placed in the middle of my tank where the lighting is medium. Seems like a happy camper where he is.
Not sure about my flower anemone though. I'm not sure how to read them and he's also in a position I can't see that well but he is noticeable

The nem is a bit closed up looking and moved about an inch during the night. I would love to move him to a better viewing spot but I won't ever risk injuring my animals. I'm just surprised where he is honestly. Pretty low light and about zero flow

If he opens, feed em a Lil piece of mysis to see if he takes it

Thank you [emoji4]
I will try, hoping he opens up today. I've had pretty good luck but the store owner said he wasn't sure how well he would do in a 3 month old tank especially since I'm new to the hobby but he said since I have a monti growing I could probably handle it

I thought this one is photosynthetic? I bought the wrong one which I have to feed; its a 10g tank currently cause my angels were picking at it.

Flower nems are nice and very easy IMO.

I believe it is photosynthetic but I know not all gorgonians are. I know usually the less colorful ones are photosynthetic but I quite like this one

They are....but will take to a feeding like other corals.

I knew all gorgonians liked to eat but wasn't sure which ones were NSP. I think I will be trying ACC's Coral Candy next time I go there. Hoping to go back in a week or two and get some more corals

I have two flower nems in my tank. One stuck right where I put him and is opening up nice; about double it's size since entering the tank The second one has moved around but seemed to found it's spot. Hasn't really grown but color does come out nicely.
