New Refugium Setup

Hi everyone, I'm setting up a new refugium on my 46ga bow. It's going to use a Eshopp overflow and I need help starting the siphon. It uses a single u-tube and my question is how do you get it started? All your help will be greatly appreciated.

ive only used the overflows that were enclosed w/ an aqualifter but heres a site

You slide an air line tubing up the U tube from the back, all the way to the top of the tube. Make sure theres water in both the boxes and the U tube ends are under water. Suck on the tubing till the air is out of the tube. This will start the flow. Don't worry about the pocket of air left in the top of the tube. This will most likely come out when the overflow has been running for a few minutes. If the pocket is still there, shake the U tube about half a minute and the bubbles will work their way out the tube.

the way that i do it is a grab 2 pieces of filter pad, but really any thick cloth will work, hold the u-pipe underwater filling it with water. Then you place the cloth over the openings and hold it on with your fingers. the seal doesn't need to be super tight because the water can't flow that quickly through the cloth. then place the u-pipe in position and remove the cloth after you submerge the ends of the pipe.

Thanks I will be starting it tomorrow (Wednesday) because I was missing some clamps and other small items to start the new refugium setup. I'll let you know how it goes and post some pics as well.
