New Tank build - Who's using the Triton method?

Starting up a 40B this weekend and am seriously considering this triton method. Anyone have any experiences they can share? Basically other than the chemicals, and maybe a better return pump, it looks like I just need the chemicals.

List of equipment:
40B
E-shopps R-200 sump
Skimmer
2 BRS dosing pumps
Acan LED over DT
Heater as a backup (the room is heated to 78)

I was going to run it on my 50 gallon cube but upgraded to a 225. To run full triton you need a minimum of 10% refugium of total water volume, refugium in front of skimmer, 10 times turn over rate, no filter socks, 4 dosing pumps. My refugium was to small so I was going to run Triton other method which you can use with a normal setup sump

Currently shopping for a fuge light. Considering a few options: there are $30 plant grow led bulbs on amazon, there is the $129 kessil A80, or $300 H380. I'm concerned with the heat created by the big kessil though. I know this is the cornerstone of the triton approach, so I want to be sure I get something that makes chaeto outcompete the DT. My sump is fuge is the right size and I need a return pump anyway, so I'm in stalling a 700gph over flow tomorrow and adding a 500gph pump.

They don't want you to filter out the fish poop and other stuff so it can feed the refugium that's way the refugium in front of the skimmer.

I would put the refugium in the biggest compartment of the sump. You probably have at least 50 total water volume so your refugium needs to be a minimum of 5 gallons to run full triton you might want to look at Triton other method you don't need a special sump

No you don't have to do them but even with the full triton they recommend water changes every time that I get a Triton test they always recommend some percentage of Water change. Like my last test they recommend water changes because of high tin levels

If you don't have a big enough refugium with full Triton you might run into problems with algae cuz they put extra chemicals in it to grow your refugium faster and if it isn't big enough to take up the extra nutrients you might get nuisance algae other places
