New to NJ Reefers

Hi guys the names Keith.. Yes I must admit I've been trolling around the forum for some time now maybe a month or so and finally ready to say hello and introduce myself.

A little about myself now, I've had fish tanks going back to when I was a wee little lad starting with freshwater of course and spreading my wings a little into saltwater as I grew more comfortable keeping fish. Always wanting to eventually graduate into reef keeping. With that said after reading up on very many topics here I started to dive in and convert the saltwater fish only tank I've had for many years for just that purpose. Of course I'm guilty of making most of the same mistakes most others have made with keeping saltwater fish. Starting with using under gravel filters and crushed coral as a substrate and wondering why I'm always having nitrate issues just the same. Since reading here I've ripped out that UG and crushed coral electing to use sand and a combination of dry and live rock inside the tank and adding a sump and protein skimmer rated for well over the little 37 gallon tank i'm currently using today. Also went with led lighting from buildmyled which is making this tank look new again. Excited as I was after all the changes I made to the tank it didn't even start a mini cycle what so ever beings I kept the existing rock and filter media from the old CPR Bakpak skimmer that I had been using previously. So anyways finally after testing thoroughly for now a month everything is in line parameters all in check.

Just today picked up my first colony of ZOA's, not exactly sure what kind they are but at least they have started opening up and looking as good as they did at the fish store

Welcome Keith. What part of the State are you from?

(From R2R....and it is an arm of a mini brittle star...good to have. They don't get more than an inch or so across.)

I think you still get health benefits with the paid membership fee, you should check into that.

37s are nice tanks.

Think Marlton is still considered South Jersey correct... Where abouts are you from? And thanks, totally started panicing about those little legs not even considering that something other then what I have bought could be lurking in those crevices.
