Hello everyone, my name is Brandon. I'm new to the forum here but have been an obsessed reefer for years. I sold my previous tank to an employee at Allquatics in Trenton. Ive decided to get back into the hobby I miss so dearly after my mom moving back in and seeing her beautiful nano. Ive just started a new 10 gallon tank I had laying around with a bunch of dry rock I had in buckets from previous tanks. Plan on upgrading to a 90+ gallon tank in the next few months. Also will be starting a mini anemone propagation tank to help support my hobby and help the population of tank bred anemones so they can stop taking them from their natural habitat in the ocean. Which we all know most of them die when taken from the wild. I may be only one person with small amounts of anemones but if i can save at least one in the wild its worth it to me. :applause: Well I just wanted to introduce myself and make some friends here. Brandon, first off, WELCOME! You have found a great resource in NJRC. I agree with Jim, if you have the time, consider attending one of our monthly meetings.

I’m assuming your 10 gallon is still cycling, with the picture of the anemone coming from Mom’s tank??

Now in regard to your saving the world’s anemone population with that little guy you show in the picture, don’t count your chickens quite yet. I say that because that little guy looks very much like a Cribrinopsis crassa. They are a very nice looking bubble tipped anemone that never gets big, and divides like rabbits, quickly taking over your tank. Therefore, they are more of a pest anemone than one you would want in your tank. I could be wrong in my identification, but if I am right, I’m sorry if I burst your bubble. I mistakenly put one of them in my tank, and about a year later I had finally pulled out the last of them….guessing somewhere around 50 anemones.

Yes the anemone is in moms tank. I was told its a green bubble tip anemone. Its still getting used to the tank and looks small because most of it is hiding on the back of the rock. I will try and get a better picture. And i would love to attend the meeting I will definitely look into it. Thanks for the invite:) The 10 gallon tank has been cycling for a little less than a week with some live rock rubble "borrowed" from moms tank :biggrin: hmmm after google-ing Cribrinopsis crassa the picture that comes up looks exactly like the one I have. Still a very beautiful animal though

Btw on that first pic, there is the swing-line hydrometer. While those are great for a gut-take initial reading, sometimes they lose their accuracy. If you can afford it, consider purchasing a refractometer instead.
