Mike's Bio

Been keeping salt water tanks since 1977. Had various tanks of 30 gal, 55, and a 125 ...all fish only. For the last 8 years have had a 90 gallon and 2 years ago starting keeping corals and now addicted to reefing.
Over the last year I started a new tank system totalling 870 gallons total. This is a 420 gallon display with a 180 gallon sump and 270 gallon mixing station combination of RODI and salt tanks.
The new tank is a DSA all glass tank 108x30x30. The tank features 8 Radion pro lLED lights, a Vivid aquarium 180 gal sump in the basement. I dedicated a portion of a room as a fish room. The plumbing is all schedule 80 with valves and unions everywhere. I have a bubble magas skimmer, Aqua logiic in line 1500 watt Titanium heater, JBJ chiller, Aqua logic 114 watt UV, Apex controller, I run a BRS 2 aprt calcium, alk, and magnesium all dosed with a auto dosing system. I have a frag quarantine and a 20 gal quarantine.

The tank also has a custom built canopy lift I designed and built and custom cabinetry by Rob (Hockeynut) The canopy lift allows the entire canopy to raise about 2 feet, so I can easily access the tank.

The return pumps are 2 Wave 2 pumps , 1/2HP each along with 4 MP-40's on the back wall and 2 Maxspect Gyre 150's . One at each end.
The tank now has a nyriad of corals starting to grow and about 24 fish.

Hi Mike, I am planning to attend and joining the club. I've been in the hobby for 10 years with moderate success. My tank inhabitants were wiped out during Superstrom Sandy and I have not had the interest to get back into it until now.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning.

Man, I'd love to go to see this tank and it's close to my house too.

Unfortunately, I'll be driving down to S. Carolina that day to visit the in-laws for Thanksgiving week though so I can't make it. Hope someone takes some pics!
