Nuisance Sponges

I have this sponge that looks like tree roots, it used to be in the DT and I was able to get rid of it, now it's in the sump, was all over my graciallis, so it took it out and exposed it to air which is sup[posed to kill sponges- didn't happen, is there anything that eats sponges or a way to kill it

Wish I could be more of a help on nuisance sponges but I don’t have any real answers. Best I can say is my older one works full time now and occasionally does his dishes and will put out garbage/recycling. But he moved his gf in so it’s a wash.
