October 2013 Meeting Announcement

It would have been the best meeting ever if I went home with a tank lol.
I have $42.50

lol, too bad :D I guess we can fill the tank up with your tears haha. Besides you got a bunch of nice white frags haha.

Had a great time guys. Great food, great company, great tanks. Thanks to Ant and Terri for having us.

Thank you Anthony and Terri for hosting. Thank you Jim for the amazing frags, ClassKlown as well (with an assist from Xaiver). It was great to sit down and talk some shop again.

Another big thanks to Tony and Teri for hosting yet again another spectacular meeting! The food was great and the company was better. As usual, all of your tanks looked fantastic and I'm sure everyone got their fill of eye candy! It was another great raffle too with about 30 frags provided by all of the following members:
Tony (Raffle King), Jim (downbeach), Krista (SeahorseKeeper), Rob (Hockeynut), Josh (ThatGuy), Bryan (Spideybry), and a few from me too.

I did take a few photos which I'll have to share later on. My uncle is in the hospital and we're heading up there in a bit so I don't have time to upload them all right now.

Also, I wanted to mention that many of you left a little early and missed the "business" part of our meeting yesterday. I'll explain in more detail in another announcement thread as soon as I can... but we have some news for our Holiday party. Here is the basic info:

When - Saturday, December 14th, 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Where - The Hilton, Garden Inn, Mt. Holly/Westampton, NJ. (111 Hancock Lane, Westampton, NJ 08060 - This is directly accross from NJ TPK Exit 5, at the intersection of Rte. 541)
Cost - $30 per person, Kids 8 and up are $12, Kids 7 and under are free (Kids will have a separate menu including chicken fingers, pastas, etc.)
Food/Drink - Will be a buffet style meal and there are 2 options based on number of people we have attending. Drinks will be cash bar, but we're looking into possibly adding an open bar (obviously this would increase the cost per person.)
Other info - We'll have Ken Nedimyer from Coral Restoration Foundation as a guest speaker. He will be accepting our clubs donation of $5,000 to his organization. We will also be conducting a true "Frag Swap" where you bring in up to 3 frags and trade them for a raffle ticket. When your number is called, you get 1 minute to select a coral from the frag tank as a trade for the one you donated. We've done this in the past and it is a lot of fun!

Again, much more details will be provided very soon. I'll describe the menu options, drink situation, etc., as well as details for the Swap rules. In the very near future (likely this Monday) we'll open up a registration page similar to what we did for our Frag Swap in June, where you can register and then make your payment. If you intend to attend this year end event, please sign up as early as possible because we need to know if we will have over 25 people before November 14th. If we don't by then (or are not at least very close to it), there will be a limit of 25 people allowed to attend... so please don't hold out till the last minute on this.

Also, at yesterday's meeting, I briefly explained that we may have an opportunity to hold our November meeting at one of the Rutgers Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences (IMCS) facilities. I've been speaking to the Director of the program about our $1000 donation to the program and we're attempting to setup a club meeting for next month. It was short notice since the school isn't normally open on the weekends and they would have to ensure they can get security and faculty on-site for the meeting day... so it's not a definite yet. I should know more info by Monday evening or early next week the latest and make an announcement for that as well. If this doesn't work out, Mike (mnat) and Nicoloe (NikkiT) have agreed to host in November, and the Rutgers IMCS meeting will get planned for a future meeting early in 2014.

Anyway, I have to get going. I'll get some photos of the meeting up later tonight. Hope everyone had a great time!

I want to say thanks to everyone that came to the meeting and to everyone that donated frags to the raffle, what a great time.
