I think you may have answered your own question. Were the older colonies in there before the Angel? What kind of lighting? Do you QT them or dip and add them? Are they single polyp frags?

The other day I had a frag with 2 polyps on it sitting on my frag rack and I noticed a larger hermit had climbed up and it sure looked to me like he was eating it. I moved him off and there was only 1 polyp.

Kissed the hermit goodbye.

Well they have been added all at different times the older ones where in there around the same time I added the angel but I have cut down on all the feeding so he might just be hungry
I run LEDs nothing fancy I just turned them down I did not QT them just dipped

Wow that sucks that might be it also I have a ton of them in there I always thought they were reef safe

I had the same issue. I discovered that my lemon peel developed a taste for all things coral. I couldn't figure out why my zoas and other corals were not doing well. Then, I added a chalice and my angel ate 90% of the flesh in 5 minutes. I rehomed the angel and now all my corals look better than ever. Some that were on the verge of dying are making a comeback.

My vote is for the dwarf angel. I've had a few different one's over the years, and they all had/developed a taste for something in my tank. I thought I got lucky with the last one, a Flame, until I got my first clam, that one had a taste for clam mantle. The only Angelfish that I never had a problem with, in a reef environment, were Genicanthus types, i.e. Lamarks, Watanabei to name a couple I've had.

We have a African flame back angel he is a model citizen and we don't have any hermits in our 150. We do have hermits in our 90 and we were always knocking them off the zoas

Dan, have you dipped any other corals besides the zoas lately? If so, how do they look? Maybe you're mixing the dip too strong or leaving the zoas in it too long?

I would say that feeding less may be a large factor as I have the lemon peel seahorse had and it doesn't even look at any of the button polyps. I think its because since its a FO tank it is fed heavy so there is no reason to nip at anything.
