Our 45g cube

Thank you for the offer mori, we just bought a 210g that will be here next month which will be our final upgrade (I swear to god).

So as many of you know, this tank is soon to be broken down. However, before that can happen, (1) the fish room in the basement needs to be completed (it was framed out this week), (2) the tank needs to arrive from Elos.
So, the 45g cube is still up and running.
the report: the sps corals are looking much better, no sign of red bugs (thank you God). However, we have had a few losses. Our red planet RTNED as did our shades of fall and a milli. Most of the other sps are doing well, we think the RTNED was due to a combination of high temp (tank was running at 82 for a little while) and low alk. We have fixed the temp issue, and are slowly raising alk, testing every day to try to prevent large swings. The zoas are doing well, but as a result of overcrowding, one of our chalices stung the red scoly, and both of them had some damage. Both corals have stopped receding, but it will be a while before they fully recover.
On a happier note, we adopted a serpant starfish my aunt had in her tank about 3 weeks ago, it was losing tissue on the ends of its legs and it had a hole in its head, and I am thrilled to report that it has almost fully recovered.
We moved the harlequin into this tank (the red linkia is still in the 12g), and it is doing a great job of taking care of the asterinas.
We also added cleanup crew back in, and moved the Christmas tree worms back in to this tank; the porites does not like the 56g- it browns out every time I try to move it into the 57g. The porites is recovering nicely, although we don't see the Christmas tree worms out feeding much during the day as the angel continues to try to eat them.
I will be interested to see if the porites does better under the LEDs mike bought for the big tank.

The fish are doing well, now that the green pistol is no longer in the tank, we are not experiencing fish disappearances any more or unexplained fish injuries.

We have decided we like scolies.......

I had to chuckle….after seeing your tanks a few times, I believe the list of corals you don’t like would be considerably shorter then the list of corals you like. Your tanks are packed to the gills with every coral known to man!

Oh, and those scolys look fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you everyone

In other news, I made the next step into becoming a full reefer. I left the RODI on overnight and had a nice little flood in the bathroom.

In other news, mike received his first angry phone call from his wife relating to the fish tanks. . . Can any of you guess who got to clean up the ro/di all over the floor??

So the summer has come and gone, and the 45 g is still up and running. We broke down the 57g this week to make way for the ELOS, so the packed with corals 45g is even more packed than it usually is. We have 4 frag racks in there, and every inch of available space is taken up by coral right now.
We have been slacking off with this tank, and it shows. We have a full blown bubble algae outbreak, and several apstatia in the tank. We are still tying to kill off the AEF, but I would by lying if I said that had been going perfectly. The battle has been raging for several months at this point.
The good news is that the frag tank arrives today, which should give us the space the corals need so that we can monitor them properly (and remove the pests that are hampering growth).

We would, but the tank is pretty much temporary for now. Once the Elos is setup and is stable, this tank is coming down. We are going to cook the liverock if we want to keep it. None of the live rock in this tank is making it into the big system without a cooking.

With the big build hitting a couple of snags, this tank is still running so I wanted to get some pics up of some things I have not taken pics of before:

Space invader pectinia, grab a frag of this if you can find it, it is amazing:

More colors to the scolly collection i see!...behind that yellow eyed lepto is a big bleeding apple one. How long have you had it? Do you target feed them?

We have had that big scoly for maybe 2 months. It actually has three mouths on it and it will probably split into two down the road which would be cool. I target feed them with Fauna Marin LPS pellets every few weeks or so during water changes. They really go nuts for that food which is awesome to watch. Right now the shrimp in the tank try to steal them so it is tough to get good pics of them feeding. I would feed more often, but that food is very potent so it can spike your nitrates/phosphates. My scoly's, acans, and chalices love it though so I just do it every few weeks.

I'd trade my left paly for a maul if you ever frag it Mike! lol I lost my colony of 50 months ago to a heater spike.

Whenever you want, if you got the band saw I got the frag. They grow pretty well for so anytime you want to come over and grab a frag, just drop me a line.

I've got an Inland reefkeeper and bonecutters! I'll let you know for sure, but I may take you up on a polyp in a trade.
