I am pleased to report that the 57g is finally up and running! So it may have taken us 21 months and 22 days since buying it to get it up and running, but whose counting?
So. . . the tale begins!
As many of you know, this is the tank Mike and I bought for ourselves as a wedding gift to each other, which as sat dry for quite a while (did I mention that it has been dry for 21 months and 22 days? )
Well, on Friday we moved to our new house, and on Saturday, Ethan came down and plumbed it and set it up for us (thanks again Ethan!), and yesterday we introduced the livestock.
We moved most of the former inhabitants of the 45g cube into this tank, and reshuffled the inhabitants of the 30g cube into the 45g. I had a bit of a problem getting some of our small fish out of the rockwork before we moved; as a result, some of our fish are still pretty stressed. The sunburst anathia traveled over in a rock, as did more than one of the barnacle blennies, and the yellow assessor basslet traveled over in a container full of rock. Unsurprisingly, the fish that are doing best (ie out and about rather than cowering terrified in the rockwork) are the picaso clown pair, the mandarin pair, the neon goby, and the barnacle blennies that traveled in the fish bucket. The Yasha Hasa goby and the helfrichi traveled in the bucket as well, but they have been hiding since we released them into the tank- terrified, I assume. The Mystery Wrasse was out and swimming this morning. The Basselt was out and about last night in the late evening, he is a bit skittish to begin with, so I'm hoping that he is ok. Tonight I'll be on the lookout to make sure everyone is ok.
The gorgonian and spiralis made the transfer well, and most of the SPS had PE this AM (and yes, i did autofrag more than one of them in the transfer- I'm sure no one is surprised by that). The Duncan was being harassed by the clowns as usual, and not happy, and the clam did not look particularly happy this morning either. I am hoping that they will look better this evening.
Once we get internet in the house, we will post pictures.
