I apologize Praveen....I didn't understand your original question and answered with one of my usual smarta$$ answers. Yes, you are correct that it is "closed," so when the power goes out the closed loop loses nothing. Here is a diagram of a closed loop and sump setup. The closed loop is yellow/orange while the sump lines are light and dark blue.

In our set the closed loop is separate from the filtration. The close loop and pump with the ocean motions is under the stand. If the power goes out it stays self contained. The filtration is in our basement. When the power goes out we have the return set so only so much water goes in to the sump from the DT so it won't overflow.
 
The rock work is done. We will be adding the fish and coral soon.
