Outlook Issue.....Any help??

I am using Outlook 2007. It was working fine until Friday.

I have it set up using IMAP.

On Friday, emails were just disappearing. This morning they were ALL gone. I checked the Web Portal and they are all still there.

So I uninstalled and re-installed that email account and all of the emails showed back up. But then I stepped away from the computer to grab lunch, came back, and they are all gone again. When I receive an email there, the email shows up, I can read it, but then a few minutes later it's gone too.

Also, all the emails are showing fine on my phone.

Can anyone help me figure this out?? I really need to use Outlook to do my job!!

It could be a setting on the mail server. Sometimes they have a default limit of 300 messages, at which point it starts to delete old messages.

There could also be a rule setup to automatically delete older messages. But, usually it deletes oldest messages. It shouldn't delete a new message you just received today.

I did a search for this issue and found the following link that might be helpful. I didn't read it entirely but sounds like a similar issue.

Thanks George.....but my issue is a little weirder.

My messages aren't getting deleted or going to the deleted folder....they are just disappearing.

It's very strange!!

Did you setup a new client somewhere recently to get email (on phone, ipad etc) ?
There is a setting that says something like "leave the emails on server". It looks like once the emails are pulled to the remote device they are being removed from the outlook client as well.

Ive seen this a few times. Try clicking on a different column. Say from or recieved. What happened in my case was the sort was corrupted.

If you move the email to a folder do they stay?

I concur with Monroereef, are you sure you don't have another email client running? Last in, first out (email). Your settings suggest you can only read it in one place.

For this very reason, I stick with POP vs IMAP on my mobile devices.

Monroe and Sandee....no....no new client. All the rules are set correctly. This has been working correctly between Outlook and my Droid for about a year. No changes have been made.

I uninstalled the account again yesterday afternoon and re-installed it and right now, everything has been fine for the past 24 hours or so.

Not sure....I'll have to try moving some into folders.

Sid,
Easier said than done. My company only allows Outlook and I occasionally have issues with it. Like this week I archived my emails from 2011 and half are missing. All were placed in the same location of my drive and no way to get them back. Oh well.

Ok...this is still happening!! And it's getting really annoying!!!

I have no rules set up, no archive set up. I'll be sitting at my desk and I will see the emails moving and disappearing and then they are gone.

I then have to delete the account from Outlook and then set it up again and it works fine.....for a while.

Sooooooooooo irritating!!
