Need help with building a silencer for my Eshopp PF300, 300gph box. I am in need in building something to reduce gargling noise cant sleep at nite, the tank is in my bedroom. Please help me, LOL...
You can also try adding a ball valve or gate valve(even better because of the increased accuracy) on you supply line. Use the value to decrease the flow to match the return flow from the sump pump. It takes some time adjusting, but once you set it, you can forget it. Well, monitor at least. I have had it set up since December and did not have to touch it since.
I have two internal overflows, both connected into one supply line by a "T". Past the bulkheads under the tank, I have a ball value on each supply line before it T's to a single spout. After adjusting the flow, the water level in the overflow chamber is equalized to about 1/2" to 1" below the DT water level so there is a slight drop, but it is silent since no air is being pulled down. I do not have a special standpipe, float insert, etc... Just a simple prefilter which I clean during waterchanges.
You can also do this if you have a HOB overflow box. Its were I first used it on my 75.
I’ve got to agree with malulu….durso style standpipe.
We put the durso style standpipe right into the overflow. You don’t even need to glue it up. You can just friction fit the couple pieces together and you’re good to go. Just rests in there…not threaded in…and really quieted it down.
Here’s a shot looking down into the overflow:
Here’s a shot of the modified durso style we made…cheap and easy to built:
