Paul's 60 Cube Reef

Jim put it straight. I did not do this originally and from time to time I notice it on my hippo but it normally subsides. I imagine its only a matter of time before it hits me hard.

QT is the best way like Jim mentioned but if you can't set up a qt tank your best bet is soaking your food in garlic abstract and vitamins. Just feed heavier than normal. There are quite a few people that just feed through it.

I just went through this in my tank with a fairy wrasse that developed it all the rest of the fish seemed healthy and all I did was feed heavy and put some vitamins in the food and it seems to have subsided. I think most guys would say that whenever you put a new tang in the tank you going to develop it Especially if it came from Petco every fish I've ever purchased from any Petco eventually developed dick. Really beautiful fish though That was a nice find. The guys up in AO in Avenell also told me about some medicated food for ich you might want to try that. Good luck

Lol sorry for that typo!!! Lol

I am not set up for a quarantine tank. I might try the medicated food and garlic. Sucks but hopefully it will clear up without losing some fish.

Well I thought everything was going good. Everyone was eating and they were eating garlic. Came home today to a total loss on my fish. Looks like I will be coral only live rock for some time. That was the first time I lost fish to ich and it was an expensive experience.

It has been a while since an update. Seems like I had severe ICH or velvet. I lost almost all my fish. Nutrients spiked causing hair algae outbreak which was overtaking my tank. I tried raising magnesium to fight it. It helped but killed off all my snails. So I then tried dosing peroxide. This had the best results. I lost my green birds nest and pink lemonade and my other SPS were in poor shape due to dosing. I then removed all rocks I could for a peroxide bath. Since then the tank has been recovering nicely and I have added a few fish. 2 snowflake clowns, 1 flasher wrass, two cardinals, court jester goby, and a chalk basslet. My tank is actually enjoyable again which is a nice feeling.

i'd say its been a while lol almost a year. sounds like you got the tank on the right track. i would love to see some updated shots

I'm sorry to hear about your losses Paul.
Our SPS are just recovering from all of the issues we have had, but I am sure we can cut a few frags for you in the near future. Let us know when is a good time.

Well I finally got motivated to catch my Sally light foot crab. Found it chowing down on my mandarin goby. Should I keep it in my sump or donate it to the lfs?

Exile him to the LFS, you never know when you will need your sump to hold something you actually want to keep.

Time for another yearly update. I have been doing better on my water changes and the tank is doing well. I haven't bought anything for it in a long time. Just let it settle in and it is starting to do well. I might look into a dosing pump as I have only been doing water changes at this point.

Let me know where you are ready for some corals, glad to see you did not completely get out.
