pests: mini shrimp?

i was looking into my tank today and saw what look like two small shrimp. I've seen a molted shell prior looks like mini shrimp but figured it was from detrius of rods food. then looking today i saw those shrimp and wondering if they are a good or bad thing.

Probably a copepod, Did it look like this?

actually yes, i didn't think copepods were that big. they were huge.

They get pretty big, I have some giants in my sump. They are good though, not a pest

I think they're called amphipods.

Whoever blogged this is wrong - that is not a copepod. That is an amphipod. Very common in all reef tanks.

Whoever blogged this is wrong - that is not a copepod. That is an amphipod. Very common in all reef tanks.

My bad. I should have said it looks like a *pod. Then I would have been safer. lol

lol - no worries. Amphipods/copepods - all you need to know is that both are great for the tank.
