Petco in Brick

Has a nice looking swallowtail angel for $42.00. I was going to pick it up but I was afraid it would fight with my bellus.

I stopped in there about 2 weeks ago. The Petco by me doesn't carry saltwater fish. They seemed to have a few nice ones. Makes me wish I had a longer tank so I could get a few. Are they aggressive?

I just went to check out the Petco in Toms River because the guy that runs the one in Brick is also working on ficing this one up.

What a train wreck, it looks like they had a fire sale on all the saltwater stuff. Bubble Corals for 20, sailfin tang for 19, zoa colonies for 20, all the anenomes looked horrible with only one open and its foot dug in. All the tanks were cloudy and even with how low the prices If I saw something amazing I wouldnt have bought it from there. Even some of the serpant stars were out in the middle of the tank just sitting there not trying to hide or anything.

AJ, That sounds like the one on RT9 in Old Bridge.
There is a closer one by in Middletown but they only seem to have clown fish, damsels, firefis, snails, and hermits. Nothing spectacular to look at and the tanks are so-so. Sometime they get tangs and angels in. They don't last long and am not sure if they died or someone bought them.

Its a shame, I wish they could all be as good as the one in brick but unfortunately they arent. Atleast they are trying though.

i think all petco's livestock should be boycotted i've seen too many train wreck tanks in their stores. i personally would not even buy dry goods there. i think all saltwater fish would be better off if they went out of business.

Most of the time, I would agree with you. . . But to be perfectly honest I have livestock in my tanks from the petco at brick that is doing very well, and when I was still in school, I got more than one animal from the petco in brick . . . Animals that typically had a very good survival rate. I think tht there are managers in certain stores that do take good care of their livestock.

Took the wife to Lancaster on Monday,. While there we stopped in a Petco to see what saltwater fish they had to offer and it was horrible. They had three tanks and ALL of them were cover is algae and I mean 2-3in long hair algea. For the most part you couldn't even see the fish that were in there. I feel sooooo bad for them. How can someone let these tanks get this way?

yeah, not sure how the corporate / franchise business structure of petco works, but i ASSUME that when you buy from one, you support all of their stores, so buying from one that has nice tanks, helps keeps the ones with the nightmare tanks in the "fish business". but hey that's just me, i don't buy any aquarium goods from national franchises, i get all my stuff from lfs, one in particular, or from fellow reefers on njrc.

I wrote several letters complaining about the store in Old Bridge and the corporate reply was BULL. I wrote back stating I have all these different animals and shop there weekly and if they don't fix the SW problems I will stop shopping. They never replied back and I don't shop there anymore.
